Travel and Local Assistance
International Amateur Sports Inc. (IASI) is available to assist participating teams and their families with travel arrangements, sightseeing and local transportation; however, IASI does not provide financial support except that Tournament Champions (up to the Tournament’s oldest age bracket) each year will be exempt from the next year’s Tournament registration fee to encourage a return to defend its Championship and except that in very special circumstances a foreign team may receive some financial assistance to defray local costs in Washington, DC during the Tournament.
In connection with the previous Tournaments, IASI helped teams:
- negotiate group travel benefits for team members, coaches, trainers, public relations staff and team family members
- negotiate lodging–including lodging in the campus dormitory of a major Washington, DC university
- schedule an official, guided tour of the United States Capitol Building through Congressional delegations
- engage bus transportation for airport, dormitory/hotel, game venue, sightseeing and shopping
- engage bilingual guides for sightseeing in Washington, DC and New York City
- arrange a reception with a foreign embassy
- select restaurants
- obtain tickets to local events–for example, to a game of the local, professional soccer team DC United
- obtain maps and brochures for public transportation and local attractions
