Travel and Local Assistance
International Amateur Sports Inc. (IASI) is available to assist participating teams and their families with travel arrangements, and with local transportation, lodging, meals, sightseeing and other activities on request; however, IASI does not provide financial support except that Tournament Champions (up to the Tournament’s oldest age bracket) each year will be exempt from the next year’s Tournament application fee to encourage a return to defend its Championship and except that other assistance may be proivded to elite foreign teams.
In connection with our previous Tournaments, IASI helped teams:
- negotiate group travel benefits for team members, coaches, trainers, public relations staff, team family members and other supporters
- negotiate lodging–including lodging in the campus dormitory of a major Washington, DC university
- schedule an official, guided tour of the United States Capitol Building through Congressional delegations
- engage bus transportation for airport, dormitory/hotel, match venues, and sightseeing
- engage bilingual guides for sightseeing in Washington, DC and New York City
- arrange a reception with a foreign embassy
- select restaurants
- obtain tickets to local events–for example, to a game of the local, professional soccer team D.C. United or for professional basketball and baseball
- obtain maps and brochures for public transportation and local attractions
